Recently, Selena Gomez’s comment about her revival album photoshoot has sparked a debate on the internet about body positivity. The ‘Lose You to Love Me’ singer revealed in an interview that she was ashamed after the photoshoot of the album cover.

Why was Selena ‘ashamed’?

The ‘Only Murders in a Building’ star recently gave an interview to the Hollywood Reporter’s comedy actress roundtable. The interviewer asked Selena about being sexualized when she was still very young and had gained popularity through her performance in the Disney shows such as Wizards of Waverly Place.

The ‘Heart Wants what its Wants’ singer replied that she was actually ashamed of an album cover she did. She said that she had to overcome those feelings because she knew the photoshoot was a part of something deeper which is a part of her career and which was going on.

She reflects that it was a choice that wasn’t made out of her willingness or happiness.

She continued to add that he isn’t a very sexual kind of a person who would like to reveal too much about her but there still were times she felt like wanting to be sexy. Even though Gomez did not tell publicly which album she was referring to but its fans have obviously understood it was her Revival album from 2015.

The revival album covers of 2015 became a topic of discussion at that time for the bold look that Selena has made in her cover. Although the theme of the cover was Black and White, the sensual image of Selena was enough to bring her into some headlines.

Some of the internet users think that her comment about being ashamed is because she thinks showing her body is something very bad or she was skeptical about the body positivity and they were criticizing her for this.

However, fans came out to her rescue and pointed out how her comments were being distorted and misunderstood by the users. Apparently, Internet users were missing the context of her comments and the fans reminded them to check the whole interview.

Nonetheless, it’s the personal choice and feelings of the singer and she has all the right to feel uncomfortable about things she doesn’t like.
