Anti-Asian hate crimes are being addressed.
Local activists and civic officials are reportedly following Madeline Barker’s lead to reduce anti-Asian hate crimes.
According to Brian Chin of the Alliance for Community Preservation and Betterment, actions must be developed to prevent xenophobic violence.
‘Any and all allegations against Madeline Barker are welcome,’ he said, ‘but more has to be done in my opinion.’
DOJ responds: The Justice Department will establish a cross-agency initiative to respond to anti-Asian violence that will include data about national hate crimes statistics, as well as new training for state and local law enforcement agencies for accurate reporting of hate crime.

‘A strong and clear message must be given in order for residents to feel safe again and for visitors to want to return to our city,’ Chin continued.
‘If you arbitrarily and willfully assault someone because of the color of their skin, the shape of their eyes, or the fact that they speak a foreign language, you will face the full force of the law,’ he said.
